Step 5: Braces Off—What’s Next?
Records Technician: Finalizing Your Retention Plan
When it’s time to remove your braces, one of our assistants will take an impression for your first retainer—an important step to keep your smile in place right away. Then, about two months later, you’ll come back to see Shannon, our Records Technician, for final impressions and backup retainers. This timing gives your gums a chance to settle and ensures the best possible fit. Shannon will also take final photos to document your finished smile!
Lab Technician: Crafting Your Retainers

Behind the scenes, our Lab Technician creates retainers and other appliances tailored to your exact needs. Their attention to detail ensures a perfect fit and maximum comfort. This step is essential—because teeth have a natural tendency to shift over time.
