Community Involvement
Dr. James A. "Pev" Evans started the Evans Orthodontic Scholar Athlete Award back in 1987. Prior to becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Evans taught in the Rapid City public school system. "Pev" also coached with the Post 22 baseball program for over 40 years. He realized early on the importance of students striving to better themselves through education and athletics and designed this award to recognize both of these attributes. This coveted award is given each year to an 8th grade male and female student from 22 area middle schools that extend from Philip, SD. to Wright, WY. The winners are chosen by their teachers and coaches. The selection process is based on which students have tried the hardest to excel in both academics and athletics that year. Each winner receives a $75.00 gift card and a certificate. The doctors at Evans Orthodontics have awarded well over $64,000.00 dollars to area students since the scholarship program began 30 years ago.

For the last several years the team has chosen to buy Christmas gifts for the Angel and Guardian Tree programs instead of buying gifts for each other. We are glad to be a part of making Christmas special for these children!!
